William Appawora Sr., age 76, of Myton, passed away September 13, 2021, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
William was born June 26, 1945, in Carson City, Nevada, to James Redcap Appawora and Terrocitta Kanapatch. He married Melba Rita Accawinna, they later divorced.
William lived life to the fullest. He was a loving father, uncle, brother, grandfather and friend to all. He was loved by all his family, nieces, nephews and especially his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. William’s special interests were car shows in and around the Uintah Basin and joking with whom he came in contact with. He worked over 50 years in auto body & fender perfecting his skills working at Killian’s, Val’s, Frandsen’s, Reynold’s, Steve’s and Parrish’s Body Shops. He loved to hunt, fish and be in the mountains. He was proud of his Ute heritage, speaking Ute fluently and was a Ute Sundancer. He loved all his family and his little dogs, Sweetie, Chico & Oakley. We will greatly miss his teasing, joking and his sense of humor.
William is survived by his children: Camille P. Appawora, William Lynn Appawora, Henry P. Appawora and his grandson, Blaze Appawora, all of Myton: siblings Pauline Appawora Ignacio, Fort Duchesne; Latitia Keyaanie, Whiterocks, Utah; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many relatives near and far.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Melba Accawinna; siblings, Joesphine Thompson, Louise Sireech, Sarah Lonebear, Sophie Accuttaroop, Rose Topanotes, Zina Appawora, Florine Benson, Ramon Appawora, Rupert Appawora, Jimmy Appawora, Lynwood Sireech, Richard Sireech; grandsons, Cody Appawora, Willie Bates Jr., and granddaughter, Rosey Jenks.
