Wanda Mitchell Bastian, age 81, of Vernal, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, passed away September 4, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be missed dearly.
She is the daughter of Martha Marett and Hugo Kenneth Mitchell. She was born November 28, 1933 in Upalco. She graduated from Altamont High School. She married Charles Allred on August 1, 1952, he died in September of 1953. She married Keith Bastian on February 4, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple on March 8, 1986.
Her talents were many, she played the violin, accordion, piano and wrote many songs. She made numerous beautiful quilts, doilies, afghans. She was also a beautiful seamstress. She loved flowers and gardens. She served an LDS mission to the Indian reservation. She held many callings in the LDS church and served as a temple worker in the Vernal temple since opening day. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Keith Bastian, son Karl and daughter Betty Jo, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, siblings: Lela Galloway, Ben Mitchell, Ione Baggs, Nona Allred, Jack (Lynda) Mitchell, and Lorna (Everd) Squire.
Preceded in death by parents, siblings: Victor, Willis, Loal, Marcus, Ila, Beth, mother-in-law Virgie Marie and father-in-law Wesley Sern.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Whiterocks LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial in the Hayden Cemetery.
