Karl Wade Mathisen, age 51, of Neola, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2016, at his home, doing one of the things he really enjoyed - fixing his chicken coop. He was born June 6, 1965, in Roosevelt, to Willard Karl and Judy Christensen Mathisen. He married Cori Flores and later divorced. He married Jaimie Lee and later divorced.
Wade started out working in the oil field for Gamache, then his dad's hot oil trucking company, Bluebell Hot Oil Service. He then went on to Action Hot Oil Services, and then became a pumper for XTO. He was an avid arrowhead hunter, fisherman, hunter, camper, and photographer. He was happiest when he was at home, working on his land, especially with his flowers and garden. He also panned for gold and collected guns. He had a way with little kids - they just adored him- probably because he was just a kid at heart.
Wade is survived by his parents, Willard and Judy; step-children, Jason Jorgensen, SLC; Lily Brown, Tooele; Beth Brown, SLC; grandchildren, James & Preston Malmstrom; brother, Brian Paul (Carol) Mathisen, Hyrum; sister, Amy (Alex) Hay, Halifax, Nova Scotia; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester & Ester Mathisen; and Paul and Leah Christensen.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Neola LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
Burial will be in the Neola Cemetery.
