Vione Parrish

The words sister, mother, grandma, and friend never meant so much to so many as when they apply to Vione Smith Parrish, age 89, of Ballard. She peacefully returned to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father on January 5, 2016, sure in the knowledge that the love she shared made life beautiful.
She came into this world on May 4, 1926 in Tridell, Utah. Her parents were William Elbert and Sarah Medena Merkley Smith. Celebration was always part of her life. She loved growing up in Whiterocks with 2 brothers and 7 sisters.
She married Wilmar Davis "Bill" Parrish on June 10, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died May 13, 1997.
She continued a fun and fulfilling farm life with her husband and 5 sons that she gave birth to and at least 5 more that she raised out of love. She worked and played right beside them. She taught herself cake decorating and excelled at it. Her flower arrangements beautified weddings, Relief Society Meetings and many family parties. Her pistol shooting skills won awards throughout the state. She cooked for and loved everyone that came under her influence.
Grandma meant the world to her 17 grandkids - and 30 greats. She spent countless days, hours and precious moments hiking them around Utah, making sure each one had Valentine cookies as big as your face for each grandkid's entire school class, creating (with each child) gingerbread houses at Christmas, and loving each child like a treasure.
There was always adventure whenever grandma got involved! She loved her family without measure, she served everyone with grace and charm and she was a joy and a treasure to all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Wade (Juliene) Parrish, Richmond; Vaughn (Mary Ann) Parrish, Randlett; Lyle Parrish, Ballard; Keith (Yuko) Parrish, Boise, ID; Kay (Tracy) Parrish, Ballard; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, siblings, Ladeena Christensen, Riverside, CA; Ednal Simmons, Whiterocks; Bona "Bonnie" Bates, Carson City, NV; Moana Burton, North Ogden; Roberta (Francis) Crozier, Riverside, CA; Veneita (Hank) Carron, St. Louis, MO; Orion (Linda) Smith, Myrtle Beach, SC; and Terrell "Teri" Waters, Indio, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband , Wilmar Davis Parrish, brother, Chester Smith, sister, Clella Smith and daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Parrish..
Funeral services held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ballard LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held on Friday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial in the Tridell Cemetery.
