Velma Lucille Drollinger Dart, age 99 of North Myton Bench, passed away July 23, 2023 at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa in Roosevelt, UT.
Velma was born February 15, 1924 in Ioka, Utah at the home of her parents Nancy Elizabeth Stone and Allan Elmer Drollinger. The weather was so warm her dad was out in the field plowing! She was the 8th of 13 children.
She married Ralph Clyde Dart May 12, 1941. Ralph passed away April 14, 2005. They created a beautiful farm on the north Myton Bench and brought five children into the world. Glenna Jean Brotherson (Phil) Roosevelt Utah; Ralph Clyde Dart Jr (Susan) Vernal Utah; Beth Dart Myrin (Alarik) Altamont Utah; Roger Lee Dart (Lorette) Roosevelt Utah; Bruce Dart (Chona) Roosevelt Utah.
Velma had a wonderful childhood. Her family was close knit and they had a lot of fun together. Her siblings were also her friends and they liked to visit and giggle all through their lives.
She loved to work and worked hard all her life. She not only had a beautiful garden and flowers in her yard, but also helped with the livestock and farm work. She enjoyed canning, cooking, camping and loved going on picnics. She whistled most of the time she worked. She loved the moon and would call us to go look at it. She also enjoyed having a clean home and most of all a happy home.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society for many years. She was also in charge of Pennies by the Inch, Cancer Drive, PTA and often volunteered as room mother in her children’s classrooms.
Family and friends were always welcome at their home and usually went home fed and carrying something else to eat! She loved people and loved to visit, she made friends with most everyone she met.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She and Ralph were always at the children’s and grandchildren’s activities to support and cheer them on.
She joined the Villa family in 2018 and had a great love for the other residents there and the staff. Thank you Villa staff for your kindness and all your loving care!
Velma is survived by her children and their spouses, 22 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
