Vance Gardner, age 55, of Indian Bench, passed away May 16, 2023, in Vernal from a long illness.
He was born June 10, 1967, in Roosevelt, to Gilbert & Cheryl Redcap Gardner. He married Marie Sixkiller on August 30, 2012, in Vernal, Utah.
Vance was a talented artist who loved to draw and let his imagination run wild on his canvas. He liked to work on vehicles and always lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Vance's love for nature and the outdoors was unwavering as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time riding in the mountains. His taste in music was diverse. However, he had an affinity for rock and roll bands like KISS and Metallica and was known to enjoy some good old country music now and then.
He had a Happy-Go-Lucky personality and loved spending time with his family.
Vance is survived by his wife, Marie, of Vernal; his children, Cheryl Gardner (A. Ironhorse Ridley), Vernal; Brandy Gardner (Jason Manheimer), Darla (Jason) Garcia, both of Ft. Duchesne; Allen Gardner, Salt Lake City; Rebecca Gardner, Ft. Duchesne; step-children, Carlin Ignacio, Tara Ignacio (Arden Post II), both of Ft. Duchesne; 12 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren; father, Gilbert Garnder, Indian Bench; family members, June Gardner, Dalene Copperfield (Lloyd Miller); Mary Miller, Leanna Mae Copperfield; Trina, Rena, Kelly, Bobby, Nathan, Rayma, Melvin, Robert, Michelle Redcap, Ardonna Haman; Twila, Lisa, Junior, & Adam Gardner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Gardner; mother, Cheryl; family members, Mathew McGill, Michelle Gardner, Victor Large, Lester Chapoose, Jr.; Michael Gardner; April Gardner; and Eric Bush, Sr., Parker Redfoot, Terix Manning, Antonia Carlos, Shayla Manning, Rotisha Herrald, Isabelle Chapoose, Robert & Carmelita Jack; Alvin Longhair, Bobby Redcap, Jr.; Raymond Cornpeach, Jessie Miller, and Gus & Lucas Gardner.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Gilbert Gardner’s residence on Indian Bench. He will be taken there for a wake on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the John Harmes Cemetery.
