Travis Morgan Charging, age 37, of Mesa Arizona, formerly of Oakland, CA, passed away on April 28, 2024.
Travis was born October 15, 1986, in Roosevelt, Utah to Lola Marie Whitetail and Dallas Lee Charging.
Travis was given the name of ‘Red Sun Rising’ by Auntie Alice Serawop Jones at birth. At age 4 his grandfather, Kenneth Charging, POW of the Korean War, member of the three affiliated tribes of Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara gave his childhood name of ‘Four Winds’ to Travis at a naming ceremony in White Shield, ND.
Travis loved music, he was a great self taught musician who played many instruments, including, keyboards, drums and his favorite the guitar. He enjoyed camping, skateboarding, traveling, and just discovering new places to see. He was a talented artist and could work with any type of medium. He was a free sprit who had a kind heart. He was looking forward to going back to school to become a pilot. He had received a scholarship to a flight school in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his children, Miya Charging, Luna Baymiller, parents, Lola Marie Whitetail Gilbert, Mesa, AZ; and Dallas Lee Charging, grandmother, Evelyn Charging, both of Lower Brule, SD; his siblings, Brianna Gilbert, Mesa, AZ; Scott Charging, Salt Lake City; UT; Ernest Charging, Mesa, AZ; Barbara Charging, Phoenix, AZ; also survived by uncle, Ray Martinez, Las Vegas, NV; aunties, Pauline Whitetail, Watanga, OK; Jada Harding, Reno, NV; Angel Stenseth, Sioux Falls, SD; Denise Zahrehusen, Sioux Falls, SD; Terri Charging Sioux Falls, SD his nieces and nephews, Damien, Esmerelda, Cyril, Serena and Raeonna.
He is preceded in death by his twin brother, Dallas Kenneth Charging, grandparents, Kenneth Charging, Hattie Serawop Coats, George Whitetail, uncles, Rick Martinez, Merlin Martinez, Robert Martinez, Ralph Whitetail, Ernest Martinez, James Whitetail, Kenneth ‘Fuzzy’ Charging, Woody Charging, Macroy Charging, aunts, Kathleen Martinez, Evelina Whitetail; and nephews, Scottie Charging Jr., and Corey Daniel Charging.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m at the Randlett Community Building. A wake will be held at the same location on Tuesday after 4:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Randlett Cemetery.
