Thomas Arlen Nye, age 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 12, 2022.
Tom was born January 7, 1947, in the Heber Hospital to Erycel and Clara Nye. He married the love of his life, Freddie Fuelling, on August 10, 1967. Shortly after, Tom left to courageously serve his country in the Vietnam War.
Dad loved his horses, his chickens, hunting, camping and of course his family. He was the proud father of Tommy (Tera) Nye, Jeffrey Shane Nye, Tawnya (Frank) Fowler, and Kara (Cody) Maxfield. He always looked forward to our Nye Family Reunion up Soapstone every year. He loved watching Rodeo, Westerns, and all BYU sports. He had a voice like an angel and it will be missed so dearly. He was the president of the Heber Valley Riding Club and was able to spend many hours with his wife and their friends on their horses. He was a skilled chariot racer with many wins under his belt. He had many occupations, but his true passion was hard rock mining.
He is survived by his wife, Freddie Nye, 4 children, 14 grandchildren, and 13.5 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Jessie Shirk, Shirlene Richardson, Mary (Wesley) Sweat, and Susan (Martin) Kovick, sister-in-law, Kay Geddes, many nieces, nephews and friends that he considers family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erycel and Clara Nye, in-laws, Fred and Vieno Fuelling, brother, Allen Nye, and sister, Norma Bates. As a family we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the health care workers that have served our Dad with such compassion.
