Teresa Rose Pratzner Harmston, age 84, formerly of Roosevelt, passed away January 2, 2017, at the Uintah Care Center.
Teresa was born July 23, 1932 in Egg Harbor, New Jersey to Stephen and Sue Guerrier Pratzner. She grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania, where she attended St. Margaret’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in June of 1950. In 1951, she graduated from Reading Business Institute.
On August 4, 1951, while vacationing in Atlantic City, she met a special man at a dance, listening to the Ralph Flanagan Band. After that weekend, they corresponded by mail and on the phone. Four months and 25 days later, on December 29, 1951, she married Jack Norman Harmston at St. Margaret’s Catholic Rectory in Reading, PA. They spent 48 cherished years together before he died on June 16, 2000.
Jack served in Korea for one year while Teresa worked at Harmston Supply in Roosevelt. She also worked at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Ft. Duchesne, First Security Bank, and spent 32 years working at the Farmers Home Administration in Roosevelt.
She was an active and faithful member of the St. Helen’s Catholic Parish, and was involved in the Altar Society and the Council of Catholic Women for many years. She served as CCW treasurer and held other offices in the organization. She was awarded the Woman of the Year from the Eastern Deanery Council of Catholic Women at the St. Anthony’s Parish in Helper. She was presented the award by Bishop John C. Wester.
She loved playing bridge, working with her roses and spending time with her family and cats.
Teresa is survived by her children, Leslie Ann (Tim) Jackson, WA; Stephen Douglas (Bonnie) Harmston, AZ; Jacquelyn Teresa (Derk) Price, Vernal; Michael Edward (Karmen) Harmston, Roosevelt; grandchildren, Jennifer, Taryn, Elliot, Jessica, Ryan, Nicholas, Jacob, Austin, Lucas, Sydney, Connor; great grandchildren, Thomas, Chloe, Paxton, Rykur, Ricci, Maddox, Zuri; her brother, Stephen (Anne) Pratzner, DE; brother-in-law, Richard Harmston, SLC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Jack.
Funeral services held Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Helen’s Catholic Church. Viewings will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Hullinger Mortuary from 5 - 6:30 p.m. with a rosary to follow, and Monday from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
