Tammy Jolene Gardner, age 57, of Roosevelt, passed away December 15, 2015, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.
She was born May 22, 1958, in Roosevelt, to Victor Gardner Sr., and Emily Serawop. She was married to Alfred Checora, Sr., and they later divorced.
Tammy worked in her earlier days as a teacher for the Ute Tribe Headstart. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to the mountains, traveling - especially to Wendover, and watching "Law and Order" and "the Golden Girls". She had a good sense of humor and her favorite pastime was teasing her boys.
Tammy is survived by her children, Alfred (Kristella) Checora, III, Ft. Duchesne; Jayleen Checora, Salt Lake City; Isaac Checora, Ft. Duchesne; Beatrice (Tommy) Checora, Ogden; Filena Checora, Ft. Duchesne; Christian Angelias, Las Vegas; Melinda Duncan, Minnesota; 33 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; aunt, Alice Jones; brothers and sisters, Gilbert (Mary Anne) Gardner, Indian Bench; Estena Sanchez, Taos, NM; Lolita Ankerpont, Vernal; Francis Ankerpont, Salt Lake City; niece, Alanna Jim, Ft. Duchesne; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Elvira; parents; her sons, Sylvester, Roscoe, Isiah Checora; grandson, Sean Checora; granddaughter, Lylah Peck; sisters, Yvonne Curry, Francine & Georgina Ankerpont; brothers, Jonathan & Guy Gardner.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery. She will be taken to Alanna Jim's home in Ft. Duchesne for a wake on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
