Sunday, March 17, 2019 we lost our wonderful mother Sylvia Chloe Mecham Bratcher. Mom was born August 4, 1939 to Warren and Sylvia Clegg Mecham in Duchesne, UT. The youngest of 11 children. Chloe grew up in Duchesne where she was a happy fun girl.
When she was 15, she met DeVar Giles and they were married July 14, 1956, together they had one child. They later divorced. She met Jim Bratcher and they married in 1962. During their marriage they traveled and lived in many states settling in Kentucky. Mom really loved the lush green country and the beautiful Pink and White Dogwood trees there. They had 5 children together. They divorced and Mom moved back to Utah to raise her children. She lived in Salt Lake City for many years and then moved back to Duchesne.
All of her children agree that Mama was a great mother whose greatest gift to her children was her love, she taught them to love in the same manner. Our world is going to be a dimmer place without her. Our Mom loved being a mother and a Grandma, she always had endless love for her family, no matter how large it grew.
She is survived by her children, Peggy (Dean) Sweat, Tabiona; Jim (Nikki) Bratcher, Grand Junction; Jerry (RuthAnne) Bratcher, Kentucky; Janae (Donnie) Fullmer, Indiana; Jamie (Cynthia) Bratcher, Jody Bratcher, all of SLC, 21 grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren, with 1 more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Herbert Warren, Glenn Kay Blaine, Marie Wilkins, Gladys Ivie, Beulah Williams, Aleene Thomas, June Lozan, infant great granddaughter.
A celebration on life will be held at 11:30 -2:30 on Saturday March 23, 2019 at the residence of Travis (grandson) and Burton Sweat at 40336 W 7000 N Hanna, UT. Please join us in remembrance of our Mom and sharing the wonderful loving memories that she created with her family.
We love you Mama, forever.
