Steven Winn

Steven Alonzo Winn, age 57, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at his home in Fort Duchesne Utah following an aggressive battle with pancreatic & liver cancer.
Steve was born September 6, 1957 in Roosevelt to Ralph Samuel and LaJean Smith Winn. He married Linda K. Justice on October 11, 1985 in Roosevelt. Seventeen years later they were blessed with a son, Casey.
Steve was an extremely hard worker. He was known to have some of the most beautiful corn and hay fields in the basin. Many a traveler passing by on Highway 40 could view the thick, lush alfalfa in full bloom. His farm fed many deer and elk along with his cattle that were always fat and well feed.
He cherished his wife, Linda and admired the strength she bore in the face of adversity in her struggles and then again in his trial. He loved his son with all his heart. He was a man of great integrity. He loved his extended family, and was there for them whenever they needed him. He had a generous heart of gold.
For many years he owned and trained some of the finest hound dogs in the basin. There were many dog trials where he took first place. He shared that love of hunting with his nephews and they will always remember that valuable time spent with Uncle Steve. He was a constant tease with his nieces, nephews, family, and friends who enjoyed his humor and gave it right back to him. He enjoyed hunting deer and elk, often from his kitchen window or front porch. He was often teased about not being a hunter but a harvester.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved his association with the wonderful members of his ward who rallied around him. He was so grateful for their help. A huge "thanks" to all the special people that stepped forward to care for his farm and animals as he prepared for his journey back home. He was a loyal friend to many and the out pouring of love as visitors came to see him reflected their respect and affection for him and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Winn, son, Casey Lawrence Winn, both of Ft. Duchesne; mother, LaJean Winn, Randlett; siblings, Richard (JoAnn) Winn, Randlett; Norman (Karen) Winn, Roosevelt; Debra (Leland) Nielson, Randlett; Kenneth (Michelle) Winn, Rathdrum, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Winn.
Funeral services held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lapoint LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held on Friday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturday 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial in the Gusher Cemetery.
