Shelley Tapoof, age 63, of Whiterocks, passed away August 2, 2023, at the Utah Valley Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1960, in Roosevelt, to Bert Tapoof and Mary Elizabeth Root. She married Dean Reed, and they later divorced.
Shelley worked as the enrollment administrator for the Ute Indian Tribe Headstart. She was a big tease and was an excellent cook – her raspberry caked was the best! She enjoyed making quilts, tying plastic canvas, gardening, and working with her cattle and horses. She was very traditional in the way she gathered berries, hunted, and dried deer meat. She liked to listen to Native Gospel Artists, and was a member of the Community Pentecostal Church. She helped raise many of her nieces and nephews and treated all of them like her children.
Shelley is survived by her siblings, Jerry (Jacqueline) Tapoof; Marlene Tapoof; Koralene (Jerrod) Mountain; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Sharon, Eric, & Cindy Larose; Perry, Tilford, & Tilson Tapoof; and Arlynn Wyasket.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Pentecostal Church on Whiterocks Road. There will be a wake at the Whiterocks Community Building on Tuesday after 4:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
