Ruby Gale

Ruby Edith Austin Gale, age 86, of Roosevelt, passed away December 27, 2015, at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal.
She was born February 24, 1929, in Durango, CO, to Grant Vernon and Edith Mattie Skelton Austin. She eloped with John B Gale on December 3, 1949 in Elko, Nevada and their marriage was later solemnized in Salt Lake LDS Temple December 11, 1950. He died November 9, 2007.
John & Ruby established Gale's Office Supply and Bookstore in Roosevelt in the mid 1970s and ruby was the office manager for many years. She was also worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell when they first moved to Roosevelt. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed flower gardening - especially her roses- quilting, and traveling with John. She liked to can and was a good cook, her specialty being her German Soup. She had a great sense of humor and if you didn't watch her while playing cards she would "make up" new rules or cheat (all in good fun).
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings. She and John were called to be missionaries in the Randlett Indian Mission in 1967 and they also served in the Illinois, Geneseo mission in 1993-94. She was an ordinance worker in the Provo and then the Vernal LDS temples.
Ruby is survived by her children, John Austin (Charlie Ann) Gale, West Valley City; Kim (Wayne) Justice, Roosevelt; Brad (Shauna) Gale, Logan; Rick (Karen) Gale, Ogden; Tara (Greg) Goodrich, Vernal; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; and a brother, James Austin, Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers and sisters, Bill Austin, Joy Shidler, Betty Gerth, Mickie Austin, Larry Austin, Dick Austin, and Doug Austin.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roosevelt 1st Ward LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Interment will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
