Roy "Shorty" Springer

November 27, 1938 — April 24, 2024

Roosevelt, Utah

Roy Davis “Shorty” Springer, age 85, of Roosevelt, passed away April 24, 2024.
He was born November 27, 1938, in Lapoint, Utah, to Roy Joseph and Addlion Davis Springer. He married Ila Vaye Lemon on May 29, 1959, and later divorced. On November 18, 1977, Shorty married Bette Larena Oberhansly.
Shorty took on various positions at Moon Lake Electric and retired after 41 years of employment there. He was always taking on other jobs as well, whether it was for pay or just to lend a helping hand to a dear friend or neighbor. He spent countless hours on different farms and ranches hauling and working cattle, cutting, baling hay and everything in between. In his earlier days, Shorty competed in a lot of chariot races and won many! He enjoyed team roping, and anything to do with horses. The Bookcliffs has always been the dearest place to his heart. He loved camping and hunting there with his Davis family in his younger years. He still headed that way every single Spring, where he very much enjoyed taking his wife, daughter and grandkids on the longest, seemingly never-ending rides in the truck or ATV looking for elk and whatever else happened to be out there that day. Shorty he really enjoyed riding his side-by-side and four wheeler down any trail he could find and if you were going to tag along you had to be ready for an adventure and a lot of work because anything less was not his style. His family referred to him as a human map because he always knew where every single road went and exactly what was down it. He enjoyed hunting for antlers, and just exploring the mountains and hills. He was a very intelligent man who loved to tinker and knew a little bit about everything and could fix just about anything. He loved his kids and grandkids with all of his heart and was always there when they needed him. We believe it's quite possible he left this earth because his grandson in heaven needed his partner in crime. He was loved beyond the moon and stars, and his absence will always be very deeply felt.
Shorty is survived by his wife, Bette, of Roosevelt; children, Sharilyn (K.C.) Aldrich, Las Vegas; Mindy Davis, Roosevelt; Russell (Lisa) Pickup, Ioka; Connie (Mike)
Freestone, Vernal; Jaci Ashdown, Roosevelt; grandchildren, Trynity Springer, Tyrell Davis, both of Roosevelt; KC, Kayla, & Kevin Aldrich, of Las Vegas; 11 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Charles (Mary) Springer, Roosevelt; Carol Felter, Vernal; Roleen (Daniel) Bird, Bluebell; sister in law, Eunice Springer; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Springer; step-son, Dennie Wilkins; grandson, Tre Davis; great-granddaughters, Berkeley and Rozee Williams; siblings, Ida Anderton, Dwight Springer, Lela Springer, Loretta Springer, Merle Anderton Powell and his parents.
