Ronald Duncan, age 87, of Neola, returned home to our loving Father in Heaven and his loving wife, Mary, on December 23, 2019 at the Veterans Rehabilitation Center in Payson.
Ronald was born April 15, 1932 in Neola to Joseph Roger and Keturah “Katie” Peterson Duncan. He married the love of his life, Mary Powell on November 21, 1956, and later they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on Mary’s birthday, February 2, 1966.
Ron served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. He held several callings, including Bishop of the Neola 1st Ward. He had a great love and faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived the religion, never swaying. He was a great man of faith, he was steadfast and unmoveable, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a true patriarch.
He served as a director on the Dry Gulch Irrigation Company Board for 19 years (president for 13 years and vice president for 6 years). He served as a director on the Moon Lake Water Users Association, board of directors for 18 years, (president for 5 years, and vice president for 8 years). He also served as a director on the Utah Water Users Board for 7 years, and served as a director on the Duchesne County Water Resource Board when it was organized in January 1987 and continued to serve for many more years.
He loved to watch the Utah Jazz play on TV, and didn’t miss many games. He was a farmer/rancher all of his life, raised cattle and worked hard to grow his crops.
He always had time for family. He looked forward to having family come and spend time with him and cherished the many get togethers. A few of the many things he liked to do with his grandkids was, take them “Snipe Hunting”, had a good ole’ time doing that and “Going to Heaven on a ironing board”. He loved all, he was a great and wonderful man, and you could learn a lot from him. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived his children, John (JoEllen) Duncan, Greg (Linda) Duncan, Penney (Duane) Riches, 19 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Katie, his wife, Mary, siblings, Clair Duncan, Lila Larsen and daughter, Deborah Alexander.
