Robert Ray Jensen, affectionately known as "Bert," a beloved Father, Son, Uncle, Brother, and Friend, turned in his keys on April 18, 2025, returning home to his father in heaven and the sweet embraces of his loved ones. Heaven is a little rowdier and a lot funnier since his arrival.
Bert was born on July 17, 1960, in Roosevelt, Utah, the first of seven children to Bruce and Irene Jensen. Bert graduated from Skyline High School in 1978 and married Melissa Sherman in 1982. Together, they had five children who will carry on his legacy of sarcasm and laughter. Though they later divorced, they remained close friends throughout their lives.
A true jack of all trades, Bert's hands were his craft. He built homes, custom cabins, sheds, and tiny fairy gardens with care and creativity. He had a knack for fixing cars, worked on oil rigs, and lent his skills to siding and construction projects in various locations. There was little he couldn’t do—and whatever he built, he built with heart. His many talents reflected a hardworking spirit and an endlessly curious mind. He loved snakes, lizards, cars, fishing, hunting, and the Raiders. While his passing has left us with a Bert-sized hole in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing that he is renewed and free from earthly chains. He is joyfully reunited with his brothers, whom he has missed every moment since they left this world. If heaven didn't have a basement before, it does now, and he is setting up shop.
Bert is survived by his children: daughters Ashley Jensen, Alyssa Medina (Jhonnathan), Alex Frischknecht (Jeff), Amanda Figueroa, and son Landon Jensen (Masie); Mother Irene Schuening; Stepdad Robert Schuening; brother KB Jensen (Chelsea); sisters Erma Rainey (Roger), Jennette Glover (Tony), and Kristie Smith; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Jensen; his brothers Wayne and Jerome Jenson; paternal grandparents Erma and Edward "Ted" Jensen; maternal grandparents Andrew and Ruby Hancock; brother-in-law Tony Glover; nephews CJ and David Glover; and nieces Maleah and Annaka Glover.
A free spirit and a wanderer at heart, Bert lived life on his own terms, never changing who he was to please anyone. The same was true of his relationship with God. We can hear him now, standing at the gates of heaven saying, “Bitchin!”
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 19, 2025, at the Lapoint Ward Building, 6877 10600 East Lapoint, UT. Services start at 10 a.m., followed by a luncheon.
