Richard Middleton

Richard Gay Middleton, age 87, of Fruitland, passed away April 22, 2025, at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber City.

He was born June 10, 1937, in Vallejo, California, the eldest of two children, to Hyrum Jacob Middleton and Della Dobson.

When Richard was five years old his family moved to Utah, he grew up in the Avenues in Salt Lake City. Richard graduated from West High School, Salt Lake City. He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1965 and received an Honorable Discharge.

Richard was skilled in working with his hands and mind and enjoyed several different occupations through the years. He was especially skilled in woodworking and loved to rebuild antique furniture and always had projects waiting to be done, as he finished one, he usually had another waiting. Another of his talents was as an artist, he loved to paint, draw, sculpture and do crafts. He entered several of his creations in various art shows.

Richard was a people person and was always eager to help anyone in need. He spent his last 27 plus years in his "Angel Haven" in Fruitland, Utah where he was constantly busy building or helping to repair his and others' homes and furniture.

In 2013 Richard was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and from that time his testimony grew, and he truly came to know his Heavenly Father. His first priority was to his Savior, he was "All In," and he was committed to fulfilling his callings and paying his tithing.

Richard is survived by his sister Martha Ann Ledford, three nieces, two nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.

The family wished to express thanks to the staff at Rocky Mountain Care Center for the care and kindness they have shown for Richard this past year.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fruitland Cemetery where military honors will be presented.
