Ranae Chapman, age 79, of Cedarview, passed away December 5, 2017, at the Intermountain Medical Center from complications of a stroke.
She was born March 1, 1938, in Roosevelt, to Leland Clair and LaRue Thacker Stevenson. She married Nile M Chapman, on October 14, 1954, in Las Vegas. They were sealed September 13, 1973 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Ranae was a wonderful homemaker who had a laugh and a smile that could light up the world. She had a generous, kind, and loving heart, and made friends everywhere she went. She could make you feel like you were the most special person and she made sure everyone felt loved. Her kids and grandkids were her life and she enjoyed traveling, camping, and hunting with them. She has been part of a bridge club for 60 years and often scheduled her life around Wednesday, which was when bridge club was held. Christmas was her utmost favorite holiday and she spent the entire year planning and selecting the perfect gift for all of the special people in her life. She had traveled all over the world, including two African trophy hunts, and was known to get up at the crack of dawn to hit every yard sale – always searching out a good bargain.
She was very much loved and will be deeply missed.
Ranae is survived by her husband Nile, of Cedarview; children, Roger (Ann) Chapman, Cedarview; Teri Lynn (Glen) Kirkpatrick, Apple Valley, California; Alan Lee (Amy) Chapman, Alpine; she also adopted her daughter Nila’s children after she was in a tragic airplane accident and helped raise, Paige (Kalani) Galbraith, Spanish Fork; Stephanie Richman; Roosevelt; Jonathan Asay, Roosevelt; Darius Asay, Bountiful; 13 grandchildren; 17, great-grandchildren; and a brother, Nick (Ann) Stevenson, Altamont.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nila Rae Asay; a brother, LaMar D. Stevenson; and parents, Leland & LaRue.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Neola LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and on Saturday at the church from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
