Rachel Marie James

     Rachel Marie James, age 53, of Vernal, passed away June 20, 2022, at the Ashley Valley Medica Center in Vernal.
    She was born May 24, 1969, in Phoenix, Arizona; to Carlos James, Jr., and Vickie Marie Sowsonicut.  She married Alonzo Serawop and they later divorced.  
    Rachel really enjoyed gambling and traveling everywhere, especially Wendover.  She liked to fish, go camping, plan huge birthday parties, go to concerts, and drive fast!  She loved life and her family.
    Rachel is survived by her children, Carlos James (Jessica Johnson), Vernal; Steve James, Torrington, Wyoming; Jeffrey James (Margaret Arrive), Towoac, Colorado; Sasha Antonio, Vernal; Carly Uncapiuke (Brandon Ficarra), Vernal; 13 grandchildren; father, Carlos (Nancy) James, Jr; Whiteriver, Arizona; siblings, Carmen James, Carla James, Carlena James, Carlos James, III, & Christopher James; TJ (Nina) Sowsonicut; Christine Sowsonicut, Anthony Appawoo, Teri Alba, Sherry Nanty, Manuel Nanty, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
    She was preceded in death by her mother, Vickie; her sister, Autumn Tapoof, granddaughter, Lala Antonio and nephew, Tyrell Sowsonicut.
    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Whiterocks Community Building.  There will be a wake on Tuesday, after 4:00 p.m. at the community building.
    Burial will be in the John Harmes Cemetery in Whiterocks.
