Norman D. Jenkins, 92, of Duchesne, UT, passed away on December 26, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on November 12, 1931, in Jenkins Draw, Bluebell, UT. Norman was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family.
He grew up in Ballard, Utah. In his younger years, Norman exhibited a strong work ethic and unwavering determination. At the age of six, he began teaming up a team of horses and delivering water to his neighbors. He loved basketball and he loved to dance. He met the love of his life, Vivian, at a dance and married her on November 29, 1952. They moved to Duchesne to raise their family. He was never one to shy away from hard work and would take on any job to better his family’s situation. Norman worked in the Gilsonite mines before quitting due to safety concerns, just days before the mineshaft collapsed, claiming a man's life. He owned his own water truck company and he cut and sold firewood. He also tried his hand at logging and spent a significant portion of his life moving houses for next to nothing, ensuring that people had a place to call home.
Outside of his various jobs, Norman was a dedicated family man. He was an excellent provider for his loved ones and always put their needs before his own. Norman's commitment to his family was unwavering and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His wife, Vivian, unexpectedly passed away on March 6, 1994. They were sealed in the Provo, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on March 7, 1995. After many years, he met Carolyn Stubbs and they married on February 14, 2000. For many years, they provided each other with love and companionship until they could return again to the loves of their lives.
