Nelda Irene Beal Mecham, age 87, of Neola, passed away February 13, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.
Nelda was born August 11, 1934, in Bridgeland, Utah, to Austin Alma and Alice Eleanor Dean Beal. She grew up in Bridgeland, attended Myton Elementary, and then went to Roosevelt where she was in the first graduating class at Union High.
She married the love of her life, Glenn B Mecham, in Elko, Nevada, on July 27, 1953. They were sealed on May 19, 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple. He died January 22, 2001.
Nelda worked as the lunch room manager in Altamont Schools for 25 years, she loved socializing with the students and her co-workers. She was passionate about her yard, garden, and flowers.
Family was most important to her and she cherished having family dinners, parties, picnics, camping, spending holidays together, and just having them come together.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings including, Primary, Young Women’s, and as a Temple Worker.
She is survived by her children, Gail (Shane) Gardner, Neola; Sherry (Gary) Stringham, Tabiona; Rodney (Becky) Mecham, Tooele; daughter-in-law, Kim Mecham, Mountain Home; 19 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and her siblings, Nancy Gilbert, Arcadia; Clarance (Gwen) Beal, Herrington, Utah; Larry (Gwen) Beal, Altamont; Joyce Fisher, Montpelier, Idaho; and Janis (Danny) Manning, Hurricane, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn B Mecham, her son, Rocky Mecham, siblings, Keith Beal, Dean Beal, Marsha Phelps, and grandchildren, Brandi Gardner, Kate Gardner, Jason Stringham, and brothers-in-law, LeGrand Gilbert, and Max Fisher.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Moon Lake Chapel. A viewing will be held at the church that morning from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.
Burial in the Mountain Home-Boneta Cemetery.
