Neill C Jensen, age 91, formerly of Duchesne, passed away February 27, 2020, at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa.
He was born February 3, 1929, in Neola, Utah to Lionel Christian and Ruth Genette Blazzard Jensen. He married Barbara Ann Hall on March 23, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Neill studied music at BYU and then served a two year mission to the Northern states for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked for First Security Bank, owned and operated a gas station and hotel in Duchesne. He was the owner and operator of Napa Auto Parts in Duchesne, Altamont and Rigby, ID, and finished his career at Napa Auto Parts in St. George. His life's work, however, was service: he loved to serve in his church and community. He was a High Councilor, Bishop and a member of the Stake Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a city councilman, an emcee of parades, pageants, rodeos and a professional auctioneer in Duchesne. He was active in the Lion's Club and served as the District Governor of the Lion's Club in Utah. Scouting was a lifetime commitment where he was awarded the Silver Beaver. His hobby was playing in the family "Tal Wardle Orchestra" with his sister and her sons. He enjoyed camping, shooting, snowmobiling and was the best Dutch-oven cook.
His family was the most important, #1 priority.
Neill is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Barbara, Roosevelt; children, Julie (Mike) Bailey, Monticello; Becky Young, Temecula, CA; Chris (Bonnie) Jensen, Vernal; Robert (Tracy) Jensen, Herriman; 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shauna Bullock; siblings, Phyllis Wardle, Lee Jensen, and Ray Jensen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at 12:00 noon at the Duchesne 1st and 3rd Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There will be a viewing that morning, prior to the services from 10-11:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Neola Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
