Myron B Haslem

Myron B. Haslem, of Cedarview, returned  to Heaven on November 30, 2017 at the age of 80.  His wife of 62 years, Ruth, his seven children, & other family members were able to be there for his farewell.  He left on his mission sure of their love, gratitude, and their commitment to care for his sweetheart until they meet again. His family rejoices in his life well-lived, his reunion with loved ones in Heaven, and the fact that he now runs and breathes FREE of the constraints of his aged, worn out body!
Myron was born on October 13, 1937, in Bennett, to John H. and Rebecca Hartle Haslem. He graduated from Union High School in 1955.  He married Ruth Jeanette Hamblin on January 1, 1955, in Montwell.  They were later sealed for Time & all Eternity on December 18, 1976, in the Provo LDS temple.
Myron worked at different jobs in his lifetime, including several years at Safeway, but spent most of his life providing for his family as a farmer.  He built a home on the original Hunt homestead in Montwell in 1969 and went into business for himself as a dairy farmer until they left on their first LDS mission in 2002.
He raised seven children, took in some foster children, plus six exchange students becoming their father as well.  He loved experiencing the world through different people, cultures, food, and some travel.  He loved trying different foods and eating out at places like Golden Corral and Chuck-A-Rama.  In his younger years, he enjoyed back-packing, hunting, and fishing with Ruth’s uncles Marley & Remo Hamblin, and snowmobiling with his family. He liked doing spontaneous family or neighborhood get-togethers like swimming in the pond (for which he built a diving board), sleigh-riding, ice-skating, water-melon busts, or a hot dog roast.
Myron was known for his hard work ethic, integrity, his generous (often anonymous) giving, and his sense of humor. He loved to receive “old Cowboy cards”, laugh over Norman Rockwell pictures, play practical jokes on his most beloved neighbors, tell jokes, and pull funny faces!  He said multiple times, that he hoped his body would sit up in his coffin and pull a funny face during his viewing.
Myron did not care about having nice things, but always wanted to do good things with his money to help other good people and causes.  He and his wife are responsible for helping to fund many missions, educations, medical needs, and Christmas joys!  He was a good man and he will be missed!
He and his wife Ruth served numerous missions for the LDS church including Pennsylvania/Philadelphia, Illinois/Nauvoo, Alabama/Birmingham,  six months in the Arizona/Tuscon mission, and a “stay at home” proselyting mission in Roosevelt only a year ago.   They also served for a number of years in the Vernal LDS Temple.
Myron is survived by his wife Ruth; children Arvin (Sue) Haslem, Glenn (Susan) Haslem, Calleen (Kevan) Ercanbrack, all of  Cedarview; JoLyn (Keith) Holladay, Layton;  Karen (Ken) Asay, Korinne (Ron) Asay, both of  Roosevelt; and Brenda (Eric) Antillon, Vernal; 29 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marie Russon, Acel Haslem, both of Orem; Verl (Leah) Haslem, Neola; and a brother-in-law, Ed Lewis, Orem.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Rebecca Alice Hartle Haslem, his siblings Kenneth, Niles, Helen, Dean, Glenn, Rhea, Lynn, & baby Frank; son-in-law, Chris T. Olsen; and grandchildren, Michelle Ercanbrack, and Anthony Zane Asay.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Neola LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery.
