Michael Richard Wakefield, Jr., age 28, of Ioka, passed away November 4, 2016, at his home.
He was born August 15, 1988, in Roosevelt, to Michael R. and Ranell Bramwell Wakefield. He graduated from Union High School.
Mikie, as he was known, was a hard worker and loved the outdoors. He was a heavy equipment operator and had an eye for grading and leveling like his grandpa Wakefield and his great uncle, Bob. He really enjoyed riding horses, working cattle with his dad, and rodeoing with his friend Adam Percival. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. When he was younger he caught a splake trout at Moon Lake which held the state record for over 10 years. Mikie was eager to help those around him including the residents suffering during the recent flooding in the area. He, along side his childhood friend, Brady Arnold, with numerous others, worked hard to assist wherever needed. He was very tender hearted, almost to a fault, and took great care of his mother, especially if his dad had to be out of town.
Mikie was well loved by all who knew him, whether friend, neighbor or family. He had a way of showing how big his heart was by offering to help anyone he came in contact with. He was the type of guy who carried gloves in his truck so if he saw a deer obstructing the road he could stop, move it, and save those behind him. Mikie will be deeply missed by his family and those around him. He will continue to live on in our hearts and through the stories that will be told about him.
Mikie is survived by his parents, Mike and Ranell Wakefield, Ioka; siblings, GeneVieve Reber, Huntington Beach, CA; Lars (Lauren) Reber, Salt Lake City; Heidi Reber, Logan; nieces and nephews whom he adored, Deegan & Sy Justice; Roux & Shepard Ellis Reber; grandparents, Richard & Gayle Bramwell, St. George; Richard E (Connie) Wakefield, Wellsville; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles that he had a close relationship with.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Sven Mads Reber; and grandmother, Clarice Skinner Wakefield, and Taz.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016, at 12:00 noon, at the Roosevelt Memorial Park. A viewing for family and close friends will be held that morning at the Hullinger Mortuary beginning at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please do like Mikie has: an act of selfless service.
