Melba Rita Accawinna Appawora, age 86, of Myton, passed away April 3, 2018 at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
Melba was born February 20, 1932 in Myton to Jim Wash and Ruby Olive Alhandra Accawinna. She married Hewitt Colorow, they later divorced. She then married William Appawora, Sr., later divorced.
Melba was a classy lady who always looked her best. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister aunt, and friend. Family was most important to her, she cherished each of them and delighted in family gatherings. She was always glad to see you, everyone received a hug and she was a great listener. She was a very spiritual person who loved attending the Pow Wow, Bear Dance, Sundance and Peyote. She helped to raise several of her family and was called “Mom” by many. She was her family’s center pole. She was a grandmother to all.
She enjoyed sewing, beading, traveling, camping, fishing and spending time in the mountains. She had a great talent in making Bullberry jam and her tortillas were like gold. Her favorite past time was shopping. She had a wonderful sense of humor and laughter was very natural to her.
