Max David Rasmussen, age 79, of Ballard, passed away January 8, 2025, at his home.
He was born April 19, 1945, in Roosevelt, to Ollie and Telentha Timothy Rasmussen.
Max started out in construction then enlisted in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Unit during the Vietnam War. He was a cattle rancher for most of his life and also was a real estate and oil field man. His number one priority, after his only daughter died, were his grandchildren. He loved them and adored spending time with them. He was well known in Roosevelt for doing business the “Max Way,” which usually meant you made deals with a handshake and you were going to get a fair deal. He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association and received various awards from them. He was a philanthropist and helped many people, whether it was bankrolling their startup business, to helping donate for missionaries to serve, or if someone just needed a place to stay until their house was ready, he freely gave. He was well known and will be missed.
Max is survived by his grandchildren, Sierra, Chet, Matthew, & Ella Herger, Vienna & Geneva Herger; siblings, Norman (Nedra) Rasmussen, Upland, California; Heber (Ruth) Rasmussen, Bountiful; Sharan Bleyl, Phoenix; Carol (Ron) Huntzinger, Lindon; Lloyd (Patricia) Rasmussen, Georgia; Joe (Becky) Rasmussen, Rexburg; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terry Sue Herger; brothers, Aaron & Verdon Rasmussen; and his parents.
