Mary Jo “Jo-Jo” Reed, age 66, of Roosevelt, passed away October 28, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 11, 1953, in Roosevelt, to Charles Thompson and Marietta Chapoose Reed
Mary Jo was a great caretaker, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a great workout partner with Chris!. She had a very loving heart and was so kind, but did display some of the “Reed Stubbornness”. She was very good at making hamburgers, and enjoyed going to Pow Wows, watching Handgame, coloring, and traveling.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as a visiting teacher and as a nursery leader – two callings that brought her great joy. She often attended the Vernal Utah Temple which brought her much peace and happiness.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughter, Mendy Padilla, Roosevelt; grandchildren, Raeleen (Sean) Thompson, Vernal; Isabel Padilla, Orcutt, CA; Coston Wopsock, Roosevelt; brothers and sisters, Conrad (Gwenita) Reed, Whiterocks; Carlos (Lenna) Reed, Whiterocks Road; James Reed; Ina Martinez, Lori (Byron) Rock, all of Ft. Duchesne; Corrine Reed, Susanville, CA; uncles, Robert Chapoose, Sr; Ernie (Loni) Chapoose, Lorena (Ken) Writingbird; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Charles T. Reed, Jr, Patricia Reed; nephews, Charles “Big” Reed, Jr., Conrad Reed, Charles James Reed; aunts, Ina Chapoose, Nathaline Santio; Gertrude Willie; Connie Chapoose; uncles, Kenneth Santio, David Willie, Haskell Chapoose, Lynn Chapoose, Billy Chapoose, and a cousin, Robert Reyos.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ballard Chapel. There will be a wake after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. There will be a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church prior to the services
Burial will be in the Randlett Cemetery.
