On March 16, 2016, Mark Farnsworth, age 57, of Gusher, joined the cowboys of heaven on his final ride to eternal peace. He was born May 1, 1958, in Roosevelt, to Lynn C. and Lois Mary Herbert Farnsworth.
Mark was known by many, liked by most & loved by all. He grew up on the Bawly Mountain. He was raised logging, training, breaking & trading horses, and he traded just about anything else a guy might need or want. He graduated from Union High School, where he took great pride as a part of the school wrestling team.
Mark took pride in everything he took part of and accomplished throughout his life. He worked for years in the oilfield until he was injured in a rig accident in 1981. He married Holly Louise Mitchell of Duchesne on January 7, 1983. From that point on they worked side by side raising their family and running their own Christmas tree lot, Farnsworth Trees, during the Christmas season, timbering as well as trading and raising horses and livestock. They were later sealed together in the Provo Utah LDS Temple on August 30, 1990. They also shared hobbies of making and selling Native American Indian Artifact Replicas, building barn wood furniture, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and spending time with family. Mark was also a master of private gun-smithing. He loved his wife, kids, family and friends, and without a doubt cherished, loved and adored his grandkids.
Mark is survived by his wife, Holly Farnsworth, Gusher; children, Shasta Farnsworth and Chatto Serawop, Gusher; Tyler and Lindsay Farnsworth, Sugar Hill, Georgia; Sarah and Kacy Bird, Ioka; and Mitchell Farnsworth, Gusher; grandchildren, Hayven, Preston, Darby, Vivi, Dylan, Gage, and Arzy; siblings, Carolynn and James Jex, Spanish Fork; and Debbie Farnsworth Spriggs, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn C. & Lois Farnsworth; siblings, Lorraine Farnsworth, Richard Farnsworth and Douglas Farnsworth, as well as numerous other family members & friends
Per his wishes, he was cremated. Immediate services are NOT being held. We do, however, invite all of his family and friends to join us on June 11, 2016 for a BBQ & Party to celebrate his life and bid farewell up on Ol' Bawly. Neon Markers will be posted along the road on the way up and removed on the way down. We will all meet between Lapoint Elementary and the Lapoint/Uintah River LDS Chapel parking lot at 10:00 a.m. and leave at 10:30 a.m. so we can all join him for his last trip up the mountain. Please plan on spending the day, in his words, "Lets BS and BBQ!". Feel free to bring your fishin' poles, horse shoes and stakes, playin' cards and if you feel like haulin' your horse and tack, bring em' too; we'll saddle up and go for a ride. Mark was a one-of-a-kind guy and will be deeply missed.
