Marilyn Dale (Leavitt) Priest passed away on July 7, 2023 at the age of 81. Marilyn was born on April 28, 1942 to Lucille Norine Liddel and Kenneth Barney Leavitt in Portland, Oregon. Marilyn married Teddy Dean Priest on June 14, 1961 in Duchesne, Utah being sealed in 1987 in Provo. They have three children Krys, Kathy, and Shad.
Marilyn lived her life with effortless grace, beauty and style. Everything she did was done beautifully with incredible attention to detail. She enjoyed homemaking, gardening, and leather working. The saddles, belts, and spurs she made will always be cherished with awe for their beauty.
Marilyn loved horses. She spent a large portion of her life on the back of a horse. Riding in the mountains, around her house, and at every horse show she could. She loved being a part of the Red Ribbon Riders and 21 with Oliver Riding Clubs. She made many meaningful friendships through her love of horses and instilled the love of horses in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marilyn worked over 30 years for Uintah Basin Medical Center. She started her career as Dr. Buxton's nurse and educating herself through her CNA, LPN, and RN. She worked in the ER, ICU, as a charge nurse, and as the med nurse finishing her working career at Home Health. Marilyn was loved by all who knew her. She was intelligent, witty, graceful, and compassionate.
Marilyn loved God and her family. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Marilyn was welcomed into heaven by her mother and father, brother and best friend Gerald Leavitt, her granddaughter Kristin Torres and great grandson Taylor Torres.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years Ted Priest, her children Krys (Kenny) Winterton, Kathy (Eloy) Torres, and Shad (Niki) Piest. 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, Nieces Jerilyn Babicky and Stephanie Gramillion, and numerous friends.
Marilyn and her family would like to send a special thank you to Lance White and Canyon View Hospice for their love and support.
Funeral services for Marilyn will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11:00AM at the Central Park Ward Chapel (32 South State Street, Roosevelt). A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West, Vernal) and Friday 9:45-10:45AM at the Church.
Interment will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
