Lyle David Freston (Gator), a loving family man, known for his many friendships and generous heart, left us on January 1, 2025.
He was born on August 2, 1954 and lived a life full of adventure; training race horses, white-water rafting trips with his best friend Jeff Stag (Stagman) and cowboy adventures in his home town of Roosevelt, UT.
Lyle (Gator) was a cherished father, son, brother, uncle, grandpa and friend and admired by many. He was a true example of love, kindness, patience and forgiveness. He was an avid golf lover and enjoyed holidays playing the many golf courses around Phoenix, AZ with the Debois brothers. In addition to his many great traits, he held a myriad of impressive jobs in his career, most proudly acknowledging his work as a Contracted Chemical Weapons Disposal Specialist under EG&G at TOCDF - Toole Chemical Agent Disposal Facility. As part of his training, he spent 3 months in Baltimore, MD including training at the United States Pentagon.
In retirement, he loved going on drives in his Willy's Jeep, proudly referred to as his "outfit" to do some animal watching, enjoying old western movies and "solving the worlds problems" with his buddies at the Frontier Grill each morning over coffee. His two cats, Tony and Cleo brought him much joy and comfort. Win or lose, he was a Cowboys fan through and through. He loved spending time with family and would always be a phone call away.
He is survived by his mother, Vivian Larsen Freston, his brothers Larry Freston (wife Calla), Duane Freston, and Robbie Freston, his sons Jake Whitman, Cale Freston and Andrew Freston (wife Chloe) and his grandchildren Aubrianna Jessup and Louie Freston. His departure leaves an unfillable void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and love they shared.
He is preceded in death by his father Boyd Lee Freston. He will be missed by many but always lovingly remembered as Gator.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary. Following services his cremated remains will be buried in the Leota Cemetery.
