Lurrine Bird Duncan

Lurrine Marie Bird Duncan, age 94, of Roosevelt, passed away November 25, 2024, at the Uintah Basin Senior Villa.

 She was born November 11, 1930, in Arcadia, to Charlie and Elsie Solomonson Bird. She married Clair J Duncan on August 19, 1949, in Arcadia. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 19, 1958. He died April 11, 2004.

 Lurrine was a homemaker, mother, and the glue that held the family together. She always taught forgiveness and unconditional love by the way she lived. She was a hardworker and was very religious, having a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved reunions and any family gatherings. In her younger days, she liked to square dance with Clair – a passion that took them all over the world. She also enjoyed singing, crocheting, and sewing. She was active in the church and had served as an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple from 1998-2015. 

 Lurrine is survived by her children, Doug (Irva Lee) Duncan, Roosevelt; Morris (Anita) Duncan, Cedarview; Bruce (Paula) Duncan, Neola; Brenda (Wade) Stevens, Vernal; Charlie Joe Duncan, Roosevelt; Daryl (Cindy) Duncan, Roosevelt; son-in-law, Dean Cook, Bluebell; 24 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Deon Bird, Roosevelt; brother-in-law, Faye Rogers, Roosevelt; sister-in-law, Betty Bird, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair; son, Bradley Duncan; daughter, Clairine Cook; parents; granddaughter, Amanda Snow; grandson, Mikael Duncan; great-granddaughter, Jessica Ortega-Scheurn, Lilyan Snow; siblings, Chester, Melvin, & Leland Bird, Delaine Bird, Mildred Rogers; parents-in-law, Joe & Katie Duncan; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ronald & Mary Duncan, Richard & Lila Larsen..

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt Stake Center, 447 E Lagoon Street. There will be a viewing on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.

 Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
