LeRoy H Miranda, Jr.

    Leroy H. Miranda, Jr., age 57, of San Diego, California, started his journey on October 31, 2023
    He was born August 19, 1966 to Leroy H. Miranda Sr. and Donna M. Fulwilder Dominguez.  He married Derinda K. McKewan.
    Leroy was a member of the Pala Band of Mission Indians. He resided on the Pala Indian reservation. He attended the Pala Mission School then to Fallbrook High School and later transferred to Sherman Indian High School where he graduated in 1986. He continued his education at Palomar College, there he was elected to serve on the student board. After college he went to work for his tribe as a Security Officer. He served as Ambassador for Native Americans, 1999-2005; as a Director of Cupa Culture Center, in 2000 he was elected to be Vice- Chairman of the Tribe and through out his tenure he served on numerous committees and boards.
    Leroy retired in 2012 as Vice-Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
    He is survived by his wife, of 37 years, Derinda K McKewan-Miranda; daughters, Heather V Miranda, Cherie Gonzalez, Monica L Gonzalez; sons, Tyrone McKewan, Jose Gonzalez; mother, Donna Dominguez; brother, Richard Lavato; sisters, Darline Vega, and his god-daughter, Lully Perez.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Moyla M Miranda; sister, Germaine M. Miranda; and his parents.   
    Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at the Hullinger Mortuary beginning at 9:00 a.m. prior to the graveside.  
    Leroy is having services in California on Friday and Saturday and will not be at the Hullinger Mortuary until late Monday night.
