Leon Cornpeach, age 62, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away March 19, 2016, at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa.
He was born April 1, 1953, in Roosevelt, to Edith Cornpeach. He was raised by his grandparents Myton and Mamie Copperfield Johnson.
Leon worked as a dishwasher for Bottle Hollow Restaurant, was a janitor for the Ute Tribe and a groundskeeper for the Tribal Offices. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, writing, attending Pow Wows & Sundances, cruising around, and, in his younger days, riding motorcycles. He was a very lucky Bingo player.
He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his mom.
Leon is survived by his brother Waylon Upchego, Waylon's children: Natlie &Thomas and their families; his nephew, Theron (Holly) Root, Tridell; sister, Eudora (Gilbert) Buckskin, Polson, MT; the children and their families of the late Adelbert Pargeets, Sr.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Upchego; brother, Adelbert Pargeets, Sr.; sisters, Clarinda Pargeets Uncopiuke and Christine Pargeets Root.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Whiterocks Community Building. He will be taken at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday to Theron Root's home in Tridell.
Burial will be in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery
