Leo Tapoof

Leo Tapoof, age 81, of Ft. Duchesne, died on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at the BeeHive Home of Vernal.
    Leo was born on December 27, 1940, in Whiterocks, to Millie Bascomb Tapoof and Timothy Sireech. He served in the United States Army.
    Leo led a spiritual life. He loved tradition and brought his Tribal and church beliefs together in unity. He was a Sundancer and singer, and was a flag-bearer at the pow wows.
    He enjoyed gambling in Wendover, watching wrestling and boxing, and spending time in the mountains hunting and fishing. He had a great sense of humor. He loved his children, grandchildren, and all relatives and would do anything for them.
    Leo is survived by his children, Corrina Tapoof (Jim Beavers), Lemuel (Amber Kroon) Tapoof, Leander Tapoof, Gunther Tapoof (Edna McCabe), and Terron Tapoof; companion, Matilda Tapoof; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene C. Gardner, Geneva Chimburas; brothers, Philip Chimburas, Adelbert Tavashutz, Joseph Tapoof; nieces and nephews, Jerry Tapoof, Shelly Tapoof, Kora Tapoof, Marlene Tapoof, and many relatives.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Tillie, George, and Robert Tapoof; and numerous aunts, uncles, and relatives.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. 
    A wake will be held on Thursday after 4:00 PM at Matilida Tapoof's home, 8365 East Hwy 40, Ft. Duchesne, UT 84026
    Burial in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery, with military honors presented by the Ft. Duchesne VFW, the Duchesne American Legion, and the Utah National Guard.
