Lela Rose Fowles

Lela Rose Fowles, age 88, of Roosevelt, Utah, passed away June 16, 2023 at The Premier of Alice Assisted Living Center in Alice, Texas, where she resided for the past year due to her fight with Alzheimer's.
She was born December 19, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Judd and Margaret Mitchell.  Due to the early death of her parents, Orlando and Vera Pace and Morley and Irene Dean also raised Lela. She married Harrison "Harry" Fowles, the love of her life, on September 9, 1966, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and they moved to Puyallup, Washington. Together, they raised four children:  Nile, Eric, Perry, and Jeri. Lela suffered much loss, as Jeri passed away at the tender age of 11 and Nile shortly thereafter at the age of 18.  In 1975, they moved to a farm in Independence, Utah.  After Harry's death in December 2009, Lela sold the farm and moved to Roosevelt.  Lela worked her entire life at various banks in Washington and the Uintah Basin from the age of 18. She reluctantly retired from Western Ag Credit in Roosevelt at the age of 81. Her infectious smile made everyone happy, and she was always very kind-hearted.   
    Lela enjoyed crocheting many blankets and dish cloths for family and friends, researching family history, and being an active member of the church.  Most of all, she loved the family and friends that would stop to visit her, and her time at church.
    Lela is survived by her sons, Eric (Melissa) Fowles of Mathis, Texas and H. Perry Fowles of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Sarah (Kiefer) Bedsaul, Ashton Fowles, Jennifer Fowles, James McGavin, Kaitlin (Marty) Torres, Marissa Moulton, and Adam Moulton; and many great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Fowles; son, Nile Fowles; daughter, Jerry Fowles; her mother and father; and 8 sisters and brothers.
    Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt Central Park Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  There will be a viewing at the church that morning from 10-10:45 a.m. 
    Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
