Lars Rube

March 4, 1946 — January 27, 2024

Yuma, Arizona & Roosevelt, Utah

Lars Erik Arthur Rube, age 77, of Roosevelt, Utah, formerly of Yuma, Arizona, passed away January 27, 2024, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

He was born March 4, 1946 in Malmo, Sweden, to Arthur Clemens and Kate Kirsten Bech Rube. After his father passed away when he was around one, Lars lived with his two sisters and mother in Sweden until they emigrated to the United States in 1957.

After finishing school and working for a while, Lars joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years, including some time in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After returning, Lars worked for a time on the east coast until finally moving to the Los Angeles, California, area for work where he met the love of his life, Debra Denise Johnson. They married July 10, 1982 and welcomed two children, Kirsten and Erik.

Lars had a special knack for fixing everything, and everyone in his family knew him as the guy to go to if you needed help repairing anything. After living in Los Angeles and Tucson, Arizona for a short time, Lars and Debbie moved with their family to Yuma, Arizona, where they built a life together. Lars worked at Shaw Industries for the remainder of his career. Lars could never sit still during retirement, so he became a handyman to stay busy.

After his wife of 38 years, Debbie, passed away in 2020, Lars moved up to Roosevelt, Utah with his son. He loved being around his family and grandchildren, and they loved being around him. Lars was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on his 77th birthday

Lars is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Riley; son, Erik (Rachel) Rube; grandchildren, Seth, Levi, Landon, Ty, Samantha, Dante, Dominic, Anderson & Alek Riley, and Bailey Rube; sister, Ann Horn; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Else Marie Levine.

Lars' family would like to express their gratitude to the folks at Canyon Home Care & Hospice for their dedication to helping Lars and his family over the last few months.
