Kristin McKenzie Torres, age 31, of Roosevelt, passed away December 5, 2016, at her home.
She was born December 27, 1985, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Eloy and Kathleen
“Kathy” Priest Torres.
Kristin was an outgoing, kind, and charismatic woman whose greatest
accomplishment was being a mother to Liberti. She had excelled at public speaking and interviewing which earned her many Rodeo Queen titles throughout the country. She also competed in horse shows and reigning competitions prior to her illness. She never wanted to be defined by her illness and didn’t let it stop her from becoming an extremely talented hair and make-up artist. She used that talent to teach others at the Prime Cut Academy. She had friends everywhere she went because of her unique talent of making everyone feel special, and was always willing to give the shirt off of her back (even if it wasn’t hers – which it usually wasn’t). Her older brother, Shandon, was the light of her life and his wife Tina was lucky to have made it through Kristin’s stringent criteria to be his wife. She was also very close to her sisters, Regan and Rylee. She is so very loved and will be deeply missed.
Kristin is survived by her daughter, Liberti Torres; parents, Eloy and Kathy Torres, brother and sisters, Shandon (Tina) Torres, Regan & Rylee Torres, grandparents, Ted & Marilyn Priest, all of Roosevelt; Eva Torres, Robert Lee, TX; nieces, Zoe & Winnie; nephew, Sebastian; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
She was preceded in death by a son, Taylor Thomas Torres; grandfather, Sebastian Torres; uncles, Jerry Leavitt and Calvin Torres.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt 2nd Ward LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held on Thursday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6 - 8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
