Run Free – by Kirsty Loren Winkler
Wild . . .
I want to be free
do the wild ones know
they have it better than we?
Restricted . . .
by our own narrow thought
can we not see
that it’s us that we’ve caught?
Crazy . . .
that’s how we must be
racing through our fast-paced world
instead of running free.
Trapped in our world
caught in a net
what we give
is all that we get.
Frozen in time
immobile in space
caught in a dimension
where life is a race.
Break the bonds
set yourself free
don’t let them confuse you
come running to me.
I am the place
where time will go on
and yet always remain
in the glow of the dawn.
Kirsty is survived by her mother, Jean Cruickshanks Boyes McKay and her mother’s husband, Henry Gustav Grum; her sisters, Angela Jane Howard, Heidi Joy Farah, Jillian Leigh Wallace, Anneliese Bourke, and Megan Brianna Bourke; five nieces; two nephews; and five cats.
