Kenneth Robert Bluet Thomas, age 22, passed away on February 23, 2025.
Kenny was born December 3, 2002, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Sarah Dean
Coy and he was raised by Sarah and Marvin “Clay” Nielsen. He only weighted 5 pounds and 8.4 ounces and his first little cry was an “ooh-ha, ooh-ha” and when his mother looked at him she just knew she wanted to have twelve more just like him.
He learned to walk and talk at an early age. His favorite cartoons were “Finding Nemo” and “Monsters Inc.”, and he even cried when Sully got banished.
When the family would go riding in the mountains, if they were going across or up something scary, he would tell his mother “Mom just get scared in your head”. One time they stopped for a break while packing in the mountains and he decided to climb a dead tree, he was near the top and scared his mother partially to death.
He loved fishing, camping, playing horse shoes and riding horses. He started riding his horse, “Waco,” at the age of two. His dad taught him everything he knew about horses and always said he could ride a grizzly bear if it could be saddled.
Kenny enjoyed wrestling and also watching it. He was known to be respectful and very hard working, traits he learned from his father. He was a tender-hearted young man and this trait he learned from his mother.
He loved helping his little brother make paper airplanes and throwing a baseball or football. Kenny spent many days with his grandma, Becky, and she always had to show him off and tell little stories about him. Kenny was his grandpa’s sidekick on camping trips and grandpa delighted in teasing him.
He lived to tease his sisters, especially, Ilene, who he lovingly nicknamed, “Neener.” She loved camping and fishing with him. He always made her laugh and could put a smile on her face. She would say he was ornery, because he had her run a mile down the road when they got off the bus, and he would have her bring back his bike so he could ride it home Sarah will always remember all the nick names he gave her and the way he made her smile. Tracy enjoyed going on horse rides with him. She always wanted to ride horses better than he did. They enjoyed finding horns together. She liked to argue with him when he told her what to do with a horse. One time while camping, she pushed him in the lake while he was gutting some fish. She was very proud of that payback.
Kenny’s family loves him more than words can say, he will always be missed. Until we meet again. We know that Heavenly Father has shown you how much you are loved by your family and friends and we are so thankful for that.
Kenny is survived by his parents, Clay & Sara; siblings, Tracy, Ilene, & Waylon Nielsen; grandparents, Becky Newkirk, Kenneth Coy; and many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Keith Newkirk, Alfred Nielsen, & Ina Haynes.
