Kenneth Gerald Ross, age 78 of Roosevelt, Utah, passed away December 27, 2020 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah due to complications from a fall.
He was born September 25, 1942 in Roosevelt Utah to Fred & Kenna Ross
Kenney married the love of his life, Iona Fay Dunsmore September 27, 1963 in Roosevelt and was later sealed for all time and Eternity on June 1, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Kenney had many hobbies and worked many different professions. Early on he owned and operated a Chevron gas station in Roosevelt. He enjoyed showing off the horsepower of his 63-1/2 Ford Galaxy 500. Of course, the highway patrol and sheriff’s department didn’t. Jealousy I reckon, cause their patrol cars wouldn’t keep up. He made it noted that you shouldn’t show off unless you had a full tank of gas. This did give him some weekend opportunities to work off some forgiveness and lead him into working for the Sheriffs department and Roosevelt City Police department.
Kenney was also a member of the Duchesne County Search and Rescue and was a EMT on the Roosevelt Ambulance.
He also raced stock cars for a time at the old Prairie Dog Speedway.
He was always there for his family. He enjoyed attending all the football & baseball games, wrestling matches, BMX and motocross races and gymnastic competitions. You couldn’t ask for a better coach and mentor.
He loved patrolling the mountains for the sheriff’s department, searching for old Spanish mines, cutting wood, deer hunting and just plain ole camping.
Kenney retired from Moon Lake Electric after 32 years.  He loved it their and made many lifelong friends.  It was requested of him for several years after he retired to continue to make his famous homemade chilly and bring it down to the break room.  Lots of great stories and pranks took place around them parts.  He never forgot some of the great training course’s he and Kent went on to Salt Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Iona, daughter, Chelli (Lynn) Rich of whiterocks; sons, Bryan of Neola and Bubba (Julie) of Roosevelt; sisters, Julene (Burke) Hamburg, Marlene Tanner, Kathy (Kevin) Bezzant and brother-in-law, Randy Steinaker, and many grand kids, great grand kids, great great grand kids and a pack of misfit coffee shop pals.
He was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Kenna Ross, brother, Arlo Ross, sister, Mary Jean Steinaker, son, Sonny J Ross and grandson, Paul L Ross.
