Karen Rich Christensen, age 73, of Talmage, passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2016, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
She was born April 14, 1942, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Lothair Bair and Wanda Seamons Rich. She married Ronald M. Christensen on September 21, 1963, in Boise, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Karen was a very kind and sweet person who worked for over 26 years as a secretary at the Altamont Elementary. She adored all of the children and they loved her. In her younger days, she was a member of the Altamont Saddlettes Riding Club, which gave her the opportunity to perform in the Days of '47 parade and the Salt Palace. Her pastimes included working in her yard and crocheting - she made a blessing dress for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Primary President, Relief Society President, teacher in the Young Women's program, and as the Primary pianist for many years. Usually before daylight, for over 30 years, she walked 3 miles daily, missing only the days the temperature dropped below -10 degrees and recently when there was a mountain lion scare.
She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was incredibly loved and will be greatly missed.
Karen is survived by her husband, Ron, of Talmage; children, Michelle (Wayne) Miles, Mountain Home; Brad Christensen, Talmage; Raquel (Michael) Labrum, Roosevelt; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharlene (Wendon) Nye, Lana (Herb) Huskinson, and a brother, Val (Marth) Rich, all of Boise.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Moon Lake Ward LDS Chapel in Mountain Home where a viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday.
Burial will be in the Talmage Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary. Condolences may be shared at www.hullingermortuary.com
