Julie Marie Patterson Summers, age 69, of Roosevelt, returned to her Heavenly Father on October 22, 2022.
Julie was born on May 16, 1953, in Heber City, Utah, to Bob Jimmy and Hilda Thacker Patterson, and was the second of seven children. She married Loyal Summers on August 16, 1985, in the Provo Utah Temple for time and all eternity. Their son Anthony “Tony” Summers was born on November 25, 1987.
Julie graduated from Wasatch High School in 1971 as class salutatorian, and went on to graduate from both Rick’s College and BYU in 1976 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. She worked as a teacher and coach at West Jr. High and East Elementary.
Julie had a lifelong passion for playing and watching sports. As a young adult she played field hockey, softball, volleyball, and basketball. She loved watching college sports, particularly football, and never missed watching a church basketball or high school soccer game that her son played in. She also loved to read, do puzzles, and travel. As a young woman she traveled to Europe with her sister and loved to take road trips and visit new places.
Family was a pillar of her identity, and she loved to get together with her mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews at family reunions. She also loved to take pictures and create scrapbooks, having completed 20 of them to preserve those memories.
As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Julie served in many capacities where she had the opportunity to make friends and care for others, including in Primary, Young Womens, Relief Society, Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts. She served as a missionary in the Randlett Utah Branch, and served in the Vernal Utah Temple alongside her husband for nine years.
Julie is survived by her mother, Hilda, husband, Loyal, son Tony (Natasha), grandchildren, Josie, Nicholas, and Ayla; siblings, Robert (Marie) Patterson, Joan (Chris) Seggermen, Kim Patterson, David Patterson, and John (Danette) Patterson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Jimmy, and her sister, Diane Beacham.
