Jon Douglas Rasmussen; our incredible father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend left his earthly body early on the morning of May 31, 2024. Dad was surrounded by his children, and loving family.
Dad was born July 4,1954 in Roosevelt, UT to Arthur Marion Rasmussen and Audrey Birtcher. He married Sheryl Crow in 1972 and later divorced. They had 3 beautiful children; Jenny, Rebel, and Lance. After their divorce, Sheryl and Dad remained the best of friends. The love they had for each other was always present in our home and lives today. Dad married Angie Devereaux in 1987 and later divorced. Together they completed dads family by welcoming Ann, Mark and Whitney; along with Angie’s children J.D and Paul.
Dad was a pipefitter and welder by trade. He enjoyed using his hands and was willing to teach and mentor anyone willing or needing the help. Before his passing, dad was working with Marysvale Christian College to start a welding mentorship program. In his spare time dad LOVED to fish, camp, spend time with his dog Rusty and tinker with his tools building beautiful items for anyone who wanted something. We will always remember dad for his quick-witted humor, shenanigans, and big fish stories.
Dad faced many challenges the last few years, one of the things that kept him going was his granddaughter Aaliyah. They loved to be together and went on many adventures. There is no doubt that she lit a fire in his soul and gave him some of the best years of his life.
Dad is survived by his children; Jenny, Ann, Mark, Whitney, J.D., and Paul. His loving sister, Arlene and sister-in-law Saundra Rasmussen. 19 grandkids and 7 great grandkids; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dear friends, Sheryl Crow, Hope Garcia, and Jeff and Julie Rohr.
Dad is preceded in death by his children, Rebel Brunner and Lance Brunner. His brothers, Dennis Rasmussen, Keith Rasmussen and Eddie Perank. His brother-in-law, Norm Dilley and sister-in-law, Cheree Rasmussen. His best friends, Richard Gill and Jay Kaufman.
We are so grateful for dads relationship with the Lord. Once dad decided that was what he wanted he put it all in the Lord's hands and truly became the best version of himself. We as a family have seen the blessings time and time again because of his devotion to the Lord and we are grateful for that.
