John Mooney, age 54, of Roosevelt, passed away May 21, 2021, in Duchesne.
He was born November 20, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Richard and Patricia Finn Mooney. He married Tamara Allen and they had two children. They later divorced. He then met the love of his life, Sandra Miller, and they married February 14, 2008.
John experienced working many trades, driving truck, and working in the oilfield. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, hunting, fishing, and gold panning – really anything outdoors. His favorite pastimes were riding motorcycles and watching movies. When there was a job to be done you could count on John being the first to “step-up” and help.
In 2008, John and Sandra were presented with a new opportunity to raise their nine month old granddaughter, Raeane. John faced this “head-on” despite the obstacles he knew would be ahead. He considered Raeane as a special gift and he filled the roll of protector, provider, and most of all “Daddy” to Raeane. Although many people tried to drive a wedge in his family, John remained Raeane’s #1 fan and protector until the end.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra, his children, Raeane, Roosevelt; Candis (Jeff) Holden, Salt Lake City; Mathew John Mooney; Leah (Kirk) Campbell, both of Roosevelt; siblings, Pat (Jen) Mooney, Chicago, IL; Helen (Jimmy) Witzig, Metropolis, IL; extended parents, John & Billie Reed; six grandkids; as well as other family members and his friends, Damon, Lonnie, and many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Patricia; and two infant siblings.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt Memorial Park. There will be a viewing that morning from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary.
