John Ernest Lawrence Sr., son of John H. and Muriel Booth Lawrence came into this world on January 26, 1938, and left us on January 31, 2017. He was 79 years young.
John was born in Nyack, New York. He married Donna Cox in 1956, later divorced. They had 3 children: John Jr., Douglas, and Muriel. He married Martha B Lewis Wilson on October 8, 1976. She was a widow at the time and had 4 children: Karen, Kevin, Kennith, and Kaylene. He has 20 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister - Margaret, and his wife, Martha.
John was a very proud American and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion, Fruitland Branch, for several years. There has always been a flag flying at his home. That tradition will continue.
John was a long haul truck driver for many years. He would often say he has more miles driving backwards than you have going forward. One thing about my dad in his later years, is how much he loved to help others. If he had a tool, a place for you to park your truck, or a wave and a smile, he gave it.
Please join us at a Memorial Service to say goodbye and share memories and stories on Saturday, March 4, 2017, from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Gateway Senior Center 734 North Center Street, Duchesne Utah 84021. Look for balloons.
Military honors will be presented by the American Legion. If you have any questions contact Kaylene at Kaybear707@gmail.com
In lieu of flowers, donations will be taken for the VFW.
