Jimmie Maureen Cierley Thompson Quigley, age 80, of Roosevelt, passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday March 31, 2023.
She was born September 30, 1942 to James Harmon Thompson and Mavis Maureen Cierley. She spent her early years living with her grandparents in Texas. Mavis Cierley had a soul for wandering, so Texas did not remain home for long. Jimmie moved often in childhood calling many places home for periods of time.
In June of 1961, Jimmie married Gordon Keith Roberson Jr. They had two children together, Laura Louise Roberson Chesley and Mark Andrew Roberson. They divorced 13 years later at which point Jimmie and her children moved often, experiencing many new cities, states, and relationships.
Later in life, Jimmie pursued a degree and became a Registered Nurse. She was passionate about nursing and worked in the field for about 15 years. This time of life was transformative for Jimmie. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She moved to Phoenix, AZ and cared for her ailing mother. Her father, following many attempts, found Jimmie after 52 years apart. This reconnection brought many new family members and celebrations. She treasured the two years they had together before his passing.
In July of 1999, Jimmie married William Quigley. They had many adventures together and supported each other and their newly acquired families. In 2008, Jimmie retired from her career as a Registered Nurse. This wonderful stage of life allowed her the time to serve an LDS Temple Service mission with her husband in the Mesa, AZ LDS Temple until 2014. It was a time she cherished and spoke of often.
In 2015, she and Will moved to Utah where they lovingly served as Primary teachers until 2020. In 2022, Jimmie’s battle against Dementia required more assistance and she moved into the Vernal Beehive House memory care unit. She lived there with the unconditional love and support of her sweetheart, along with her family.
Jimmie is survived by her husband, William Quigley; her children, Laura (Philip) Chesley and Mark (Shannon) Roberson; her sisters Nancy Schultz and Susan Strube, as well as 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; step-children, Duaine Quigley, Pam (Andy) Rasmussen, Devin (Camille) Quigley, Angel (Lonnie) Mecham, 18 step- grandchildren, 34 great-step-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother-in-law, Randall Strube.
