James "Jim" Thompson Lindsay

    James Thompson Lindsay, age 98, of Mountain Home, passed away March 1, 2017 at home of natural causes, surrounded by his family.
    He was born October 11, 1918 in Mountain Home to George Geddes and Rose Mary Thompson Lindsay.
    He married Ruth Elnore Thompson, October 15, 1939 in Talmage.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 26, 1948.  She died April 5, 2009.
    He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many church callings, including serving in the Stake Elders Quorum Presidency and in a Bishopric.  He and Ruth served an 18 month mission to Winnipeg, Canada and he was a temple ordinance worker for 19 years, serving first in the Provo then the Vernal Temple.  
    He served on the Uintah Basin Telephone Board for 20 years and served on the  Duchesne County School Board for many years.  He advocated and worked to help Altamont get a new elementary and to retain the schools in Tabiona. His life was centered around his family in dedicated service to provide for them.  
    He is survived by 7 children, a son, James A. (Jean) Lindsay, Ogden; daughters, Addie (Cliff) Cook, Evanston, WY;  Joyce (Guy) Thayne, Mountain Home; Alice (Lynn) Taylor, Talmage; Debra (Gary) Clayburn, Bridgeland; Leah  (Greg) Hayes, Bakersfield, CA; Lola (Craig) Stansfield, Mountain Home; 64  grandchildren, 121 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Kyle Swallow.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Ruth Ann; son, Dee Allen; sons-in-law, Richard Checketts and Dennis Wilcken, four grand daughters, one grandson and his 13 siblings.
    The family would like to thank hospice workers Alicia Beagley, Shelly Justice, Corinne Ketterer, and Jill Harris.  Thanks also to Dr. Wheeler and all others who have helped with our Dad’s care.          .
    Funeral services Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moon Lake LDS Chapel, where there will be a viewing from 11:00 - 12:45.
    Burial in the Mountain Home-Boneta Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Con Amore School.
