On November 21, 2017, we lost our beloved “Huckleberry,” James Albert “Bo” Riddle, Jr.
He was born on October 16, 1930, in Blount County, Tennessee, to James Albert Riddle Sr. and Charlotte Tipton Riddle. He was a vivacious child, earning the nickname, “Bosey of the Mountain.”
Dad joined the US Army and served in the Far East Command during the Korean War. While there he was certified to run the projection equipment to play motion pictures for the troops. Bo was also a barber, and took part in a boxing club while serving in Japan. He earned a Purple Heart for his service. When he came home from over seas, he met a beautiful “sweater girl” named Jeannie Colleen Germany. They were married on June 20, 1952, in Las Vegas at the “Hitching Post” wedding chapel. They were blessed with eight beautiful children.
Bo worked as a welder, and was a perfectionist. It brought him from California to the oilfield in Duchesne, where they lived down on the Strawberry River. His work had them moving frequently, and they lived in Nevada, Arizona, California, and Utah. He retired in New Mexico, but came back to Utah where he has lived for the last seven years.
He was also a government trapper, and had many hounds that he would take to the dog trials. He had a love for horses, and enjoyed team roping with his brother Bergin. He was an avid pool shark, and loved going on scenic drives.
Bo is survived by his children, Travis (Brenda) Hill, LaGrange, TX; Bertie (Gene) Caldwell, Vernal; Lorrie Riddle, Phoenix; Anita (Morris) Duncan, Neola; Ginny (John) Bishop, Peoria, AZ; Beth (Jon) Miles, Bluebell; James Riddle, III, Marana, AZ; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlene Story, Bill Riddle, Helen Beebe, Sue Kramer, Bergin Riddle, Betty Luce, Roy Riddle, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Dane; a daughter, Brenda; parents, Albert & Charlotte; wife, Colleen; son-in-law, Scott Mohrman; brother, Darrell Riddle; brothers-in-law, Jeep Beebe, George Luce; and nephews, Eddie & Chris Riddle.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hullinger Mortuary where a visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. that morning.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Roosevelt American Legion and the Patriot Guard Riders.
