Jack David Peterson, 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 7, 2023, at the IMC hospital in Murray, Utah, surrounded by loved ones on both sides of the veil.
Jack was born to James and Carolyn Peterson in Portland, Oregon, on August 13, 1955. Jack was blessed to be the middle child of two older brothers and two younger sisters. (Bob, Jeff, Connie, & Ruth) He loved spending time with them, playing in the woods, especially the ocean. He enjoyed playing many sports growing up, his favorite being baseball. He graduated from Park Rose High School in 1973.
Jack was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was ordained an Elder on August 18, 1974. He was called as a missionary and assigned to serve in Boulder, Colorado. He was later moved to Utah to be one of the first missionaries in the Salt Lake City mission. Jack even got to serve in Roosevelt, where he would return to later in life for his career.
After his mission, he returned to Salt Lake City. A friend asked him to help coach a little league team, where he met the love of his life, Christiana Blietschau, the league president.
They were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple on September 2, 1977. They spent most of their life in different cities in Utah, raising their family and starting their careers. They have four children: Christopher, Jacqueline, Alexander, and Stephanie.
Jack fell in love with the law and serving others, so he became a Trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol. He served at the State Capitol, the Port of Entry in Monticello, the 2002 Olympics, and the Uintah Basin. Jack worked with the community, strengthening driver's ed programs, drug awareness, and the community health and safety fair. After twenty years with the highway patrol, he served as Duchesne County East Court Judge for eight years. He then worked as a facilitator at Utah State University Uintah Basin campus. Afterwards, he spent time helping Chris with her childcare and became a father figure to countless children.
Jack enjoyed serving as a Vernal temple worker for 12 years. He served as executive secretary for the Roosevelt 10th ward for several years and held many other callings.
Jack enjoyed activities with his family, like camping, sports, and vacations. Usually, he went to Disneyland and would sneak a trip to the beach for his love of the ocean. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching movies, and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Christiana; his children, Christopher (Christy) Peterson, Jacqueline (Cory) Wilkinson, Alexander Peterson, and Stephanie (James) Sage; his grandchildren, Shylah (Cody), James Jr., Christian (Emily), Jack Ryan, Samantha, Paige, Brendan, Kendra, Whitni, Genevieve, Rosabella, Charlotte, and Seth; and four great-grandchildren with one on the way; his brothers Robert Peterson, and Jeff (Charelene) Peterson; brother-in-law, John Salley; sisters-in-law, Anne (Harold) Skousen, Gerlinda (Richard) Williams; and brother-in-law, Andree (Moana) Blietschau; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Peterson; father, James Peterson; his sisters, Connie Salley and Ruth McFall; father-in-law, Fritz Blietschau; and mother-in-law, Anneliese Blietschau.
The family would like to thank all those who have helped care for Jack. Most recently, Legacy Village and the medical team at IMC.
